Good to know: two floors with stairs between them, and a car is needed. The nearest shops are in neighbouring villages, so bring groceries.

Kyperounta is the third-highest village in Cyprus, at about 1,300 metres in the heart of the Troodos range. The houses sit at the eastern edge of the village, on the road toward Chandria — Kyperounda Winery, whose vineyards are among the highest in Europe, is a little further along the same road.
The village centre — taverns, cafés, small museums and old churches — is a 20-minute walk through the village and its views, or a four-minute drive. Two nature trails start from the village itself, and when there is enough snow, usually between January and March, you can ski on Mount Olympus in the same mountains.
Agios Georgios Kafkallou is a tiny village in northern Pitsilia, on the foothills of the Troodos Mountains in Nicosia District. Around 26 people lived here at the 2011 census, so the quiet is real.
The Xyliatos lake trail and Panagia Asinou, a UNESCO-listed church with 12th-century frescoes, are close by. Kakopetria, with its river walk and tavernas, is a short drive away. Shops are in the neighbouring villages, so it's best to stock up on the way.
